Dear John: Captivation Next Door

Dear John,

My sweet friend, so much has happened since I moved away, and this is bound to be the craziest thing that has happened, and I still can't believe it. As I sit in my room, around my desk, staring at the webcam attached to my computer. I couldn't help but think about you and what you would do in this situation. My dear friend, a slight sigh slipped my lips as I write to you, a simple I miss you is not enough to express my deep yearning for you, but a dilemma has crept over my mind as someone has entered elsewhere.

When we moved here, the Henry family was our next-door neighbors. Hawk Henry, the second son, was my favourite. He had blue eyes, 5 '9, dark brown hair, dimples, and a chiseled chin. We went to the Mankastui Camp, and we made a sort of connection there. It was my first day there and I bumped into him by accident.
“Watch where you're going, four-eyes!” he yelled at him.
I responded shyly under my breath, “Sorry.” I turned to walk away, but he grabbed my hand, and I gasped.
“You're new here?” he asked. I nodded in response.
“Well, newbie,” he smirked while squeezing my hand. "I run this place and you have to do everything I say, okay, Kitten?”.

Before I could respond, his older brother Andrew came calling him. He too has dark brown hair, and grey eyes, is 5’0, and is 17 years old. I walked away in fear because I was new here. I didn't want to cause problems, especially with someone that rich.

The day came to an end barely as every turn I took, Hawk was there staring at me as if I had committed a crime. Like I stole something from him. I was on my way home when it began to rain, and I didn’t have an umbrella, so I had to run in the rain. I decided to take a shortcut home through the Henry family’s backyard, but it’s not like they came out there much,,h so I didn’t think of it being a problem that much. But I was so wrong.

I ran, twisting and turning through the maple trees as soon as I turned the last corner to go through the gate to get to my house, Hawk sprang out of nowhere and held me up against a tree, holding my hands high above my head.
“What are you doing here, kitten?” he asked while giggling.
I struggled to break free from his grip. Wiggling and turning my body with no luck as his body blocked all space around me, so it was just him, me, and the tree.
“What’s your name, kitten?” he asked.
I stared at him, refusing to respond, and he stared at me, awaiting a response. I didn’t know what else to do because he refused to let go.
“Kathy.” I finally answered, and he let go and walked away.

I ran home, trying not to think about what had happened, so I just showered and went straight to bed, but I couldn’t sleep. I sat on the perch of my window, looking out at the moon and the beautiful roses in the garden of the Henry family. They looked rather dazzling under the full moon. A dim light from the garden caught my eye. It was moving through the garden. Curious, I put on my shoes, grabbed a flashlight, and went out to look. Upon arriving in the garden, the fog was thick as a blanket I could barely see anything. I walked on the path that I saw the light moving in from my window, and I came around to the other side of the House, and a strange rustling and breaking noise came from inside. I stopped and went to the nearest window to take a peek. Voices of a man and a woman could be heard. It sounded like they were arguing about something, but the sounds were indistinct.

“He is just a child,” The woman said.

“It matters not. He is old enough and should be treated accordingly,” He replied.

“How can you say that he is your son and should not have to be dealing with this kind of stuff?” she debated. He raised his hand and slapped her across the face, and she winced in pain. I stepped back from the window and stubbed my toonto a rock falling onto the ground.

“Shhh!” The male voice said.

I could hear footsteps approaching the window, so I ran to the other side of the House and hid inside the bulkhead door to the basement. I turned around and I saw Hawk in the middle of the room sitting in a chair naked and blood running down his face.

“Hawk?” I whispered.

He looked up at me in shock but couldn't even speak. Blood clogged his mouth. As I was approaching him to help him, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I hid in the shadows of the room.

“Hawk,” the voice said. It was his father. Massimo Henry.

“It didn’t have to be this way, but you are just too stubborn for your age. I am your father, so you should listen to me when I speak,” he explained to him while pacing around his chair.

“Now that’s out of the way, let's continue with the usual, shall we?” he added while putting a white glove over his hand while holding a belt in his hand. I couldn’t bear to look, even though I had no idea what he was going to do, and I didn’t wait to find out.

As soon as he turned his back, I burst through the bulkhead door and ran through the garden. I heard the dogs barking in the distance, but the fog was still very thick I still couldn’t see very clearly, so I just kept running. I ran until I reached the edge of the riverbank bank but the dogs were behind me so it was too late to turn back. I jumped in and swam to the other side, where I ran home.

Bursting through my room door, I grabbed my phone and called the police. I told them what happened, well,l most of it, except me breaking into their house, and they went to the Henry’s family house to speak to Mr.Henry. However, they left the house without arresting him and came over and told my mother about me making false allegations about neighbors. That night I got the biggestlectureg of a lifetime.

I didn’t see Hawk at camp the next day. I figured it was because of what happened, and this goes to prove that his father did do something to him last night, and I am not blind, even though I am sort of blind, but not blind enough to be hallucinating. It was then and there that I decided to set cameras around the house because if the cops didn’t believe me without money, then I’ll make them believe me with the very thing the law stands for - ’EVIDENCE!!!’.

The cameras were placed in the trees around the house, one in the basement by the bulkhead door, one by Hawk’s room in the tree branch extended to his room that he uses to sneak out from time to time. Two nights went by, and nothing strange happened yet. I was sleeping when I heard rustling and whispers in my room. I was trying to ignore it until I heard a screech and a scream.. I jumped out of bed and looked at my laptop. The cameras caught Mr.Henry dragging Hawk towards the small shed in the garden. My heart sank. I wanted to help him, but how could I help him if the cops wouldn’t believe me? What could I do?

“I had the evidence, but still one check,, and Mr.Henry could make the video go away unless it harmed his career and reputation,” I thought to myself. Then it dawned on me. Live stream it to every social media platform to let the whole world knowhat'sas going on.

I grabbed my flashlight and my camera and ran through the door. In the garden, I came to the shed, but before I went I, I started the live video.

My name is Katherina Camilla Corteź, otherwise known as Katty, and I think it's time you know the truth behind the Henry family, especially Massimo Henry. He uses and abuses his famil,y especially his oldest son Hawk Henry,, and has been doing so for a long time now,, but the authorities refuse to do anything about it because as soon as money talks,, they obey.”

I walked into the shed with the camera. It was dark, so I turned on the flashlight. Looking around, I saw a shotgun, pliers, rakes, a wheelbarrow, and a wooden door on the floor in the corner of the shed. I didn’t know what I was going to find down there, but I needed to help Hawk. So I swallowed my fear and went down there either way. My heart pounded, my bare feet and palms sweating, my body shaking, my anxiety levels going through the roof with every step I took down the stairs. I turned off the flashlight and held the camera ahead, and what I saw still haunts me to this day. Massimo was sexually assaulting his son while his mother watched. She had blond hair, was slim-thick, and was about 5”. 4 It was hard to tell because she was wearing heels and a black Chanel dress. She also had a black eye, but still, what kind of mother is she allowing a b*st*rd like that to do such malicious and unethical things to her children? I recorded the whole thing while tears dripped down my cheeks slowly. I couldn’t bear it any longer and ran through the door back out into the garden.

“So you see the perfect family isn’t so perfect after all, everyone has their deep dark secrets, and the Henry Family’s is that the big man is a pervert and has an obsession with his son and deserves to be put behind bars instead of threatening people with his money. —-.”

Before I could finish, Mrs.Henry came from behind, putting a cloth over my mouth, and I began to feel disorientated, and it felt like I was on cloud nine., I fell to the ground.

“I’m sorry you should have stayed away,” she whispered.

As my eyes closed, I heard the police sirens wailing in the distance. They finally saw what was happening and decided to help. When I woke up, I was in the hospital with my mother by my side. She was relieved that I was okay, and she didn’t ask what happened, and I didn’t bother to explain it to her. Upon arriving back home, I was informed that the Henry family had not been found. They just disappeared, and after a few easter eggs, the police couldn’t find any other clues leading to their discovery. To this day, people are still unsure about what actually happened to the Henry family, who lived just outside the village.

“But this is a message to every,ne, especially Hawk and Andrew, if you are still out there - anywhere and you want to help, all you have to do is reach out to me and I will help you just as I tried to help you two years ago. Just jump, and I’ll brace. Your kitten.”

These were my last words to my camera before ending my blog. As I turned around from my dedeskI was greeted by the most dazzling pair of blue e; es, it was Hawk.

“That was convincing, kitten,” he said with a smirk.

I giggled while staring at him because even though his parents were never found, he and his brother ran across the field over to our yard and hid in our basement until the police left. They explained everything to my mother, and she let them stay with us, and that’s how it has been.

This was my last log in my diary, friend. This felt like a fairytale, a dream come true, but now I fear that this dream is coming to an end as the morale of this story was not met, and my worst nightmare is coming to life. I fear my words cannot reveal to you the truth of what is happening to you. I've always longed for something more in life, and I got it - an adventure.

I thought my adventure had come to an end, but instead, my book continues to unfold in more chapters, and this chapter is the start of a sequel. A sequel that doesn't plan on ending anytime soon. I hope I can continue to write to you, my friend.

If this is the last, I hope you know that I am deeply sorry for everything that I did and didn't do. I hope you always know that I love you and it is not a goodbye but a really long time until I see you again.

~ Katty
